Karzai Fires Afghan Commanders Over Civilian Deaths

Afghan president Hamid Karzai is getting testy, what with all the civilian deaths happening on his watch.  It's not his fault, really.  US Forces operate freely, launching air strikes hither and yon.  The most recent incident, which is reported to have killed upwards of 95 civilians, is now being blamed on Afghan troops who, while under fire, called in an air strike base on locally provided and probably "contaminated" intelligence; intelligence, that is, ripe with tribal animosity and revenge.

And now Karzai has fired two Afghan commanders, Gens. Jalandar Shah and Abdul Jabbar, in direct response to the latest casualties.  And while Karzai appears to take accountability a little more seriously than his American counterpart, the US military's violations of the US Army's Counterinsurgency Manuel continues apace.
